Being a Louisiana born girl, you would think i would be wild about Mardi Gras. Although, i do think King Cake is delicious, as i got older and older my family never really participated. When i was a kid growing up in Thibodaux, LA, we did attend all the parades and had a lot of fun!!

Throughout High School, i would just go skiing with my youth group (I dont really like skiing, but LOVE winter clothing and caramel hot chocolate at the ski lodge. Oh!  And outdoor fireplaces.).

i wanted to share with some of you the history of Mardi Gras as told by

Mardi Gras was placed on the Gregorian Cal. in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII as a Christian Holiday, which i find amusing.

He placed on the calendar the day before Ash Wednesday, so when everyone came to to fast and pray on the 1st day of Lent, all the debauchery would hopefully be out of their systems.

Parades became a part of the season in 1838:
“On Ash Wednesday of that year, The Commercial Bulletin read: “The European custom of celebrating the last day of the Carnival by a procession of masqued figures through the streets was introduced here yesterday.””

2006 Lafayette, LA Mardi Gras…I had a bit of a Paul Wall obsession and thought it would be an amazing idea to make a t-shirt that said Paul Wall Baby. HAHA DORK

A couple of my besties in HS/College, Carrie and Ashley!
This was probably the last time i celebrated Mardi Gras, LA Style…Crazy to think that was 7 years ago….
Well Happy Mardi Gras to you All!!!
