OOTD: Cozy Sweater meet Cheetah Boots

Nothing says cold weather to me like an over-sized sweater, and boots. When i found these cheetah boots, i fell in LOVE. They are so comfortable, and just add such a fun vibe to any look. I wear them with almost anything, but with the cold weather in Houston over the past few days, i paired them with this amazing J. Crew Sweater. Such a comfy but stylish look! This sweater isnt super thick, so i usually layer it with an undershirt, but it is SO comfortable. And i LOVE this mustard color.

UNTANGLED-An Evening with Beth Moore

So, this happened.

amy and beth

Meeting Beth meant so much to me.

She is SO genuine, SO KIND, loving, and above all she is FULLY surrendered to Jesus. She honestly LOVES His Word SO MUCH. Her desire is for all to Love Jesus and LOVE his word.

She implored the  5,000 women in the room to RUN from sin for DEAR LIFE and to RUN TO JESUS.

FullSizeRender (3)

She said God will never entangle us. If we are tangled in a mess, it is NOT God. God can use the messes we get ourselves into because His word promises that ALL THINGS work together for the good of those who love him. Those messes are all  part of the puzzle pieces that make us who we are, BUT they are NOT FROM GOD. God is a god who loosens the knots.

She explained how there were times in her life that she had to have God’s word hour by hour. She would take scripture cards to the grocery store and sleep with a Bible on her head, just BEGGING God to not let her fall back into the pit of sin she had come out of.

There was a time in my life that I would listen to one of the DVD’s from her Fruit of the Spirit Bible study over and over again. I was in such a place of desperation for Christ presence to heal me from my MESS that I needed to hear the words OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I was also deeply rooted in God’s word during that time and as much despair as i had, nothing can explain the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I found the listening Guide for that series online here and I would literally watch the DVD for Living Beyond Yourself Session 4 OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I swear, I must have watched it 1,000 times. The quote i put on our picture, “Those who sow in tears, will reap in JOY,” is a verse from that Bible Study that carried me through a season of sorrow. I held onto it for dear life.

I am so thankful for women like Beth Moore who deeply love Jesus, who deeply love His Word, and who want all people to love it as much as they do.

Beth Moore-Thank you. Thank you for being so genuine, thank you for not being a part of a gimmick (as some nasty bloggers have suggested), but for truly encouraging women to run for dear life to Jesus and to run far from the sin that so easily entangles. Keep doing what you are doing despite many who may say vile, disgusting, and untrue things about you and your ministry. I am so thankful for your love for Jesus. It is inspiring, and encourages me to press forward in my walk with Christ.

If you don’t have people in your life who encourage you, push you forward, urge you to be a better version of yourself, spur you on toward love, encourage you to get into God’s word,  who love you where you are, who pray for at the drop of a hat, and who above all love you enough to not only encourage you, but to get real with you – find them. We are better together. Here are a few snapshots from the night of just SOME of the women in my circle who push me forward. #BETTERTOGETHER

Word Wednesday: All Things New

God you Are Restoring all things

We live in a culture OBSESSED with new. The new iPhone comes out and people are literally waiting in line for weeks to snatch it up. “Out with the old, in with the new” is a popular phrase amongst many.

This concept got me thinking, what happens when our “need for new” crosses over into our relationships? We throw friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, husbands and wives out when we want a newer, shinier model.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes we have to let go of certain people and situations that are toxic. I am certainly not saying to hold on to people who have abused us or hurt us or were only meant to be in our lives for a season. Sometimes we have to forgive, let go, and move on.

The bottom line is: EVERYTHING GETS OLD. NOTHING stays new forever. Feelings change. Feelings are fickle. Relationships are COMMITMENTS.

My encouragement for today is this: take whatever frustration you have about things in your life that are becoming stagnant, and lay them at God’s feet. Trust Him to make all things new. Jesus is the only one who can make all things new.

Hillsong has the perfect song that speaks to this. I encourage you to take a few minutes, sit, listen and soak it in. And remember, Jesus CAN AND WILL do a new thing in your life. Just Ask. HIS LOVE MAKES ALL THINGS NEW.

I am no stranger to change.

In the summer of 2008, I wrapped up my last semester of college at the University of Louisiana. Loaded up my black Tahoe and me and my stuff made the journey to Austin, TX.

my sis and me in Austin

My sister and I, probably my very first weekend in Austin. Look how tan i was. Orange was the new black back then. So glad those days are behind me.

Me in Austin

Me enjoying Chuy’s! I am now a frequent customer. Probably too frequent. This seems like AGES ago.

A year later, I began working in Human Resources at Bank, and then almost 3 years later, I left the comforts of that job to take on a job working for my father’s safety business.

In 2011, I got married, bought a house, and rescued a puppy, my sweet Beaux Bear.

Beaux Bear

RyRo and I with our little Beaux Bear. Probably a week after we got him. He was SOOOO tiny. He is a little chunky monkey now!

In 2012, we rescued another puppy.

Beauxregard and Liam, probably the day after got Liam. I can’t remember now. But we had only had him for a very short time when this was taken.

Liam and I. He is so presh yall.

In 2013, we sold our first house, Napa.

First House

Our first little house. It was SOOOO cute. I loved it so much.

Moved into my in-laws for a short time, moved out of my in-laws into an apartment, and then December 30th, 2013 we closed our brand new house.

Fast Forward to 2014, we get a third (Yes, I said third) puppy, and in November RyRo gets a job offer in Houston, and we put our BRAND NEW house on the market.

Bam and Mom

Bam Bam. Our third rescue puppy. He is SO precious. A little nutty, but sweet and precious, and oh, I just love him so much.

For me change is so hard. You would think it would be easy because I have done it so much, but it doesn’t get any easier for me at all. I told Ryan I REFUSE to move for at LEAST 5 preferably 10 years. I am beyond over it. I wish I could tell you that I was a go with the flow kinda chick. That I am “totally cool” with whatever life throws my way. But, I literally FREAK OUT sometimes when things get too chaotic. I know what God’s word says, and I know it will be okay, and I know my life isn’t that bad, and I shouldn’t be complaining at all, but I also know that I am human. I am exactly who God created me to be. I am flawed. I MUST abide in Christ. I must or I simply would just curl up in a ball and be a big baby and throw a temper tantrum. Ridiculous, i know. This may be one of those times, I am being too honest. But oh well.

I don’t think I could get through all the transitions that life has had for me without resting in God’s word and on His promises.

The promise i am resting in during this time of transition is this:

This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT

I made it personal and replaced “you” with “me.” My God is with ME, wherever I may go. What a beautiful promise to rest on.

Joshua 19

Whatever change you are going through today, REST in God’s promise that HE will be with you through it all.

Give me this sunnies….NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited and proud to tell you about the most amazing book written by my dear friend, Heather Frierson.

Now While You Are Single! Walking out your purpose before you say “I do” was just released yesterday, and if you find yourself single, and waiting around, stop what you are doing and just buy this book.

I encourage all women who are waiting to find that man of their dreams or who maybe even have no desire to get married, but just want to get more in tune with their purpose and passions to read this book.

If you are a mom I HIGHLY recommend this book as a gift for your daughter(s). I wish I could say that when I was a teen and in my early 20s I waited with grace, patience, and purpose for my husband, but that is just not part of my story. I was a HOT MESS, but thankfully, at 16 I read a book entitled Lady In Waiting, that really helped me to focus on Jesus. Now While You are Single, is the modern girls Lady in Waiting! I encourage you to start NOW with your daughter, If she is a teenager and boy crazy, she needs this book. We need to be raising up young women who find purpose aside from relationships with men. We are valuable apart from those relationships.

Book cover 800

A note from Heather

If you are going to see your dreams fulfilled you have to go after them with confidence, and with gusto. But for many single women, there’s a myth out there that takes away their gusto and destroys their confidence. Often their dreams are not realized because they believe this myth:

Life only begins after you are married.

Now, While You Are Single is a practical guide to help women discover and embrace their true identity in Christ through a journey of healing, ultimately revealing God’s purpose and plan for their life while they are single.

“God, I need help with my love life!”  Almost every single woman has cried out to God at some point and struggled with the questions, “When will I get married?” or “When will God’s plan for my life begin?” The truth is, Jeremiah 29:11 says ‘For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,’ nowhere does it say only after marriage! This is the lie that so many single women believe. Life beginning only after marriage was never God’s intent for you. God actually longs to give you the desires of you heart and launch you into your purpose as a single woman!

“Now, While You Are Single”, will:

  • Help you break out of your “Holding Pattern” and soar to new heights!
  • Help release you to do everything you are capable of!
  • Help you find your way if you have gotten lost on your journey!
  • Help you learn God’s Will in your life!

Once you realize God can and actually will use you while you’re single, you begin asking the question, “Lord what can I do now while I am single?”  Now, While You Are Single will lead women out of the waiting period straight into the here and now.  So, don’t procrastinate, instead begin the journey to find the story God wants to unfold in your life Now, While You Are Single!

So what does that mean for you? TAKE ACTION:

What’s your purpose? Order your book today! Then, take a picture with your book and post it on the Created Woman Facebook page telling us what your purpose is…Now, While You Are Single.

Order Now: at createspace.com and get your copy in 24 hours. Just in time for Valentines Day!

I am so thankful for friends like Heather who push me towards my purpose. I hope that you enjoy her book, and if you are single and struggling, find hope and purpose on your journey.
